Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival/Oslo

Arrival at Gardermoen Airport; meet-and-greet, followed by a transfer to your accommodation in the heart of Oslo City.  If you arrive early, we recommend you get the Oslo Tourist Pass, which provides free travel on all public transport, free admission to over 25 museums and sites, discounts on further attractions and sightseeing, ice skate hire, restaurants and shops. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Oslo city central.

Day 2: Enchanting Mountain Villages

Drive from Oslo to Lillehammer, the host town of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Here you can visit the Maihaugen open-air museum, the Olympic Museum and/or the Lysgårdsbakken Olympic Arena. From Lillehammer, you will head on to Vinstra, and then finally to Lom, a lovely town situated in the heart of Jotunheimen.  In Lom, you will find one of the few remaining stave churches in Norway and a geological museum that is well worth visiting.  Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Lom.

Day 3: Majestic Mountains and Breathtaking Fjords

After breakfast, you will experience majestic mountains and breathtaking fjord scenery as you head on to Geirangerfjord. The fjord is renowned for its beauty and unforgettable views. When you see the snow-covered peaks of the mountains, wild waterfalls and blue waters, you might think you’re in a fairy tale. Geiranger Fjord is certainly one of nature’s masterpieces. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in the Geiranger area.

Day 4: The Seven Sisters

At Geiranger, you will board a ferry to cross Geiranger Fjord, to the picturesque village of Hellesyt. The ferry will pass magnificent and impressive waterfalls, such as the Seven Sisters and the Bridal Veil. You will then drive the dramatic Lodalen before reaching your final destination of the day, the charming town of Loen. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in the Loen area.

Day 5: World’s Longest Fjord

From Loen, you will drive down to Lavik, where you take a ferry over Sognefjorden, the world’s longest and deepest fjord. The scenery will vary from wild and rugged mountains masses, rising straight up from the blue waters of the fjord, to verdant farmland with storybook villages.  End the day in the old Hansa city, Bergen. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Bergen.

Day 6: Bergen’s life and culture

Relax and enjoy all that this wonderful city has to offer. Bergen, an old Hansa city, is full of life and culture. In this “must-visit” city, you will find Bryggen, listed by Unesco as a World Heritage site; exceptional old houses; a vibrant fish and flower market; cable cars offering stunning views; great museums; dynamic culture, and more. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Bergen.

Day 7: Glacier view from breathtaking fjord

Today you will start the day by driving from Bergen to Kvanndal, to board a ferry that will take you over the beautiful Hardangerfjord to Kinsarvik. From Kinsarvik, you will continue south, to the lovely village of Lofthus. The breathtaking fjord scenery around the village is unique, with its marvellous view over Sørfjorden to Folgefonna glacier. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Lofthus.

Day 8: Dramatic Valley and High Falls

From Lofthus, you will drive to Geilo.  The drive takes you through the dramatic and narrow Måbødalen valley, along Eidfjord, and on to the impressive waterfall, Vøringfossen—the highest in Norway with a cascade of 182 metres. You will then pass one of Norway’s biggest national parks, Hardangervidda, before arriving in the charming mountain village of Geilo. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Geilo.

Day 9: Norway’s Nutshell Road

Today you will close the circle by heading back to the capital, Oslo. The drive to Oslo takes you through beautiful, forested dales and plateaus, passing delightful ski centers. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Oslo city central.

Day 10: Departure

Transfer by express train to Gardermoen Airport.  If your flight is in the afternoon, then you will have time for some last-minute shopping or a visit to one of Oslo’s many museums, or just relax at a café after an enjoyable holiday.
