Itinerary

Day 1: The Capital of Norway

Arrival at Gardermoen Airport; meet-and-greet followed by transfer to your accommodation, situated in the heart of Oslo City. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Oslo Tourist Pass, which provides free travel on all public transport, free admission to over 25 museums and sites, discounts on further attractions and sightseeing, restaurants and shops. Stay is in a hotel in Oslo City Central.

Day 2: Mountain Views in Jotunheimen

Start the day by heading out from Oslo, north towards Fagernes. In Fagernes you will find the Folk Museum well worth visiting. After passing Fagernes, you will start the climb up to the Jotunheimen National Park and from the Valdresflya road you will be able to enjoy your first wonderful views of this impressive mountain area.  Spend the rest of the day and the night in the Lom area.

Day 3: Exciting Activities in Lom

Lom and the Jotunheimen area is one of Norway’s most popular destinations for recreation and nature adventure, and the hiking options are endless. Find the day tour that suits you and your family and experience the fresh air, unspoiled nature, and clean environment. In the Lom area you can also go rafting, horseback riding and canoeing. If you feel like a swim or just relaxing, the unique outdoor swimming pool at Dønfoss is also well worth visiting. Stay the night in the Lom area.

Day 4: Beautiful Tourist Roads

Today you can choose between the longer drive over Sognefjell or the shorter one over Strynefjell, on your way to the small and charming village, Loen. Driving over Sognefjell, the highest mountain passage in Norway and the country’s first official tourist road, is truly an amazing experience. This drive will also let you pass the inner parts of the beautiful Fjærlandsfjorden on your way north to Loen. The shorter road over Strynefjell, originally built in 1895, is also one of Norway’s official tourist roads and no less impressive than the one over Sognefjell. Stay the night in the Loen area.

Day 5: Glaciers and Great Views

Loen is the perfect starting point for day tours to see the Kjenndalsbreen or Briksdalsbreen glaciers, both part of the big Jostedalsbreen glacier. The area also offers countless options for activities and, by rented bikes, boat, or car, you can explore Norwegian fjords and mountains at their best. Children can easily be entertained here as the area offers a variety of children friendly activities, such as fishing in the fjord or on the Lovatnet Lake, and swimming. Stay the night in the Loen area.

Day 6: The Gorgeous Geiranger Fjord

After breakfast, you will experience even more majestic mountains and breathtaking fjord scenery as you head to Geiranger situated by the Geirangerfjord. Geirangerfjord is renowned for its beauty and unforgettable views and when you see the snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and blue waters, you might think you’re in a fairy tale. From Geiranger you board a ferry that will take you over the fjord to Hellesylt and from there, the drive continues to the art nouveau city of Ålesund. Stay the night in Ålesund.

Day 7: Fairytale in Ålesund

The art nouveau-styled town, Ålesund, an attraction in itself, offers a wide variety of activities and attractions. First of all, you should climb the 418 steps to the top of the city mountain, Aksla, to enjoy great views with breathtaking mountains to the east and a vast ocean to the west. Other attractions to be mentioned are the Atlantic Sea-Park, one of the largest aquariums in Northern Europe, and the Art Nouveau Centre. This centre is a new and exciting museum that describes Ålesund's unique position in Norwegian architectural history through modern, multimedia shows and exhibitions. The town also offers a wide selection of activities for added amusements, such as fishing trips and seal safaris. Stay the night in Ålesund.

Day 8: Lillehammer and the majestic Trollveggen

Today you will drive to Lillehammer. Be sure to stop at the majestic Trollveggen, a famous, but now prohibited, location for base jumping. The second half of this drive will take you through the scenic valley of Gudbrandsdalen and to the Olympic town, Lillehammer. Stay the night in Lillehammer.

Day 9: Amusements in an Olympic Town

With only a two and a half hour drive left to Oslo, you have plenty of time to visit the Maihaugen open-air museum, the Olympic Museum and/or the Lysgårdsbakken Olympic Arena. A perfect day for the children would be to spend the first part of the day in the Hunderfossen Family Park, with its myriad of attractions based on Norwegian culture and traditions. Stay the night in Oslo.

Day 10: Departure

Transfer by express train to Gardermoen International Airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, then you will have time for some last-minute shopping, a visit to one of Oslo’s many museums, or to just relax at a café after an enjoyable holiday.
