Thailand's second-largest city and the gateway to the country's north was founded in 1296. You can still see the moat that encircled the original city. Doi Suthep, topped by one of Thailand's holiest wats, rises behind the city, providing a dramatic backdrop and fine views of the city.

DAY 1: CHIANG RAI, DOI TUNG & HILL TRIBES:

Transfer to your chosen hotel before an afternoon visit to WAt Phra Thaat Doi Tung, a beautiful 10th century temple 2000m above sea level.

DAY 2: GOLDEN TRIANGLE:

Enjoy a scenic long tail boat trip on the Mekong river and a visit to a Tai Lue weaving village,.After lunch visit a Hmong tribe hilltop village.

DAY 3: CHIANG RAI TO CHIANG MAI:

Stop at hot springs before an afternoon tour of some of Chiang Mai's highlights ihcluding Wat Phra Singh and Wat Doi suthep, tucking away in the mountains 1000m above sea level.

DAY 4 CHIANG MAI:

Visit an elephant camp and explore an extensive Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens, set in forests with a wonderful array of plants. Your afternoon is at leisure.

DAY 5: Depart CHIANG MAI:

Transfer to Chiang Mai airport for your onward flights.
