Charming Cuba

Havana if there is a more exciting city in the world, it is yet to be discovered. Havana is a vibrant and bustling city with a strong sense of its history. The city of Havana is one of the most enduring images of Cuba, with its 1950s American cars cruising every street and the beauty of the Spanish colonial architecture on every corner, you begin to imagine that you have stepped back in time.

Varadero

has been officially designated one of the top ten beaches in the world. Located less than a two-hour drive east of Havana and stretching for some twenty kilometres along a narrow peninsula on the north coast of the island, its popularity has resulted in an ever-increasing number of hotels with a wide range of in-house entertainment and facilities.

Raquel Hotel is located very near the Old Square, just a few meters from the San Francisco Square. The romantic ambience of the building proposed by its art nouveau style and expressive eclectic proyections highlight the architecture of the building. Its the biblical name and some of its spaces allegorically evoke the Hebrew culture. Three floors and a terrace compose the hotel. The majestic sculpture of the ground floor along with the marble columns catches the eye. It has an elegant specialized restarurant.  The Tryp Península Varadero All Inclusive Resort is located alongside the beach, fully integrated in its natural environment. The center of Varadero is about 14 km away, Varadero International Airport 45 km and Havana Airport 145 km.

Customer Review: The hotel Raquel is situated close to Plaza San Francisco and has a very impressive exterior and lobby, which attracts many to the hotel as visitors to take pics! It really is one of the most beautiful hotels in Havana that captures the cuban charm without stripping it down to a non descript international hotel. The fact it only has 25 bedrooms also helps.

We had a good room which had a high ceiling and air con, very handy with the heat in Havana! The room was very clean and had a much appreciated balcony. The reception staff were helpful but be warned if they book a restaurant for you they won't inform you there is a charge you for this service, and add it to the bill on departure. It doesn't cost much but be mindful if you use them a bit. The bar service and clearing of tables can be patchy but they are friendly. Breakfast isn't too bad but the hot food as with many buffets in Cuban hotels is not too alluring!

The hotel is a great base for touring around Habana Vieja (the old town) and great for chilling.

Customer Review: Twelve of us returned from our second trip to this resort in three years. Everything was fine and Fidel at pool bar and Noel at pool restaurant took care of us as usual. Never went hungry or thirsty and all was well. Try the Lobster Restaurant at the Marina, which is about a 5 minute taxi ride from the resort. You pick your Lobster ranging in price from 10 to 35 CUC. All in all everything was fine with us and enjoyed our second time at the Tryp.
