Antigua's tourist office boasts that the island has 365 beaches, 'one for each day of the year'. It has great reefs and wrecks for diving and snorkelling. Explore another great discovery made by Christopher Columbus. From the tropical forests and mangrove wetlands, to natural coral reefs and exotic wildlife, Antigua offers a wealth of vacation adventures, on land and at sea. There are many historical sites to visit, from the old British naval yards of Admiral Lord Nelson, to the stone windmills of the sugar plantation era. Some of the mills have been restored and a good example of this is "Betty's Hope". With an abundance of natural sailing advantages, Antigua is considered one of the best yachting and sailing destinations in the Caribbean. For over 45 years, Curtain Bluff has welcomed guests to Antigua. Fifteen acres of beach and gardens create spectacular vistas for the fully inclusive 72 rooms and suites scattered up the bluff, where cooling sea breezes render air conditioning unnecessary even though the amenity is available. The spacious Junior Suites have marble bathrooms and sunken living rooms, and are situated on the resort’s surf beach (a second beach offers calmer waters for water sports). The luxurious Morris Bay and Grace Bay Suites feature extra touches of indulgence such as four poster beds and balcony Jacuzzis.
The roomy accommodation is ideal for families, and both children and adults will find plenty to keep them amused. The 72 guest rooms and suites offer all the qualities of island living combined with every essential amenity and service. Each room is decorated with wicker, sea grass, and exotic wood furnishings, ceiling fans, louvered windows, cool tiled floors and elegant marble or granite bathrooms. Whether on the beach or on the bluff, every room offers breathtaking ocean vistas and a private balcony.
For Honeymooners, a bottle of Champagne is placed in your room on arrival and you may enjoy a private dinner in the Gazebo plus a romantic sail on the hotel's yacht "Sentio". Curtain Bluff offers some of the finest dining in the Caribbean with breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the price. Guests can enjoy the hotel's many activities from swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, water-skiing and diving to tennis, squash, putting, croquet, yoga, pilates, water aerobics and working out in the fitness center. The hotel's two beaches invite rest and relaxation. Lounge near the swimming pool and the bar area, with its chaises lounges and thatched umbrellas, and enjoy service from the beach bar during midday hours. The only thing better than a hotel room with an exceptional view is a spa room with one. The 5,000 square-foot Spa at Curtain Bluff opened in June 2007 epitomizes the gentle marrying of Caribbean sensibility with an ultra-luxurious environment. The new spa is located on the bluff, and sits overlooking the ocean and the nearby island of Montserrat. The Spa at Curtain Bluff includes five treatment rooms: four single and one especially for couples. Massage suites each have their own private balcony. Customer Review: I would not pay any attention to the naysayers here. You will always find people who love to complain. Our family of six (including children 19, 17, 15, and 11) stayed at Curtain Bluff for the past week. We have traveled alot, and we all agree that this is simply as good as it gets and just loved it. Moreover, all of the guests we spoke to here, including families with little kids, older and younger couples, college kids, etc., all agreed that this place is the best. First, the food is unequaled at any Caribbean resort. While we were here, Andre Soultner (former Chef/Owner of the famed Lutece in New York) was a guest Chef but the food here was and is always top notch. The rooms are very nice and very comfortable (we had two junior suites overlooking the ocean), the staff was always nice and helpful, the beach is great (both on the ocean side and Caribbean sea side) and the general attitude was relaxed. Although they talk about dressing up for dinner, that just means no jeans or shorts, and a polo shirt. If you want to sail on a Hobi Cat or windsurf, you just tell them and you are off and running, same with waterskiiing. Want to play squash, tennis, boci ball, croquet, whatever, there was never a wait, you just play. You are never bored and always relaxed. You have alot of choices with activities but no pressure at all. There is nice live music during every dinner (and afterwards), all the drinks, smoothies etc. you ever want all day long, and all the food you can imagine. With everything included, and given the quality, I quite frankly think it is a bargain despite the price. It is no wonder people come here year after year. If you want a place that has it all, this is it and you need look no further. Enjoy!
