City Overview: Moscow is the capital of Russia and one of the world's largest cities. Moscow is not only the political centre of Russia but also the country's leading city in population, in industrial output, and in cultural, scientific, and educational importance. For more than 600 years Moscow has been the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. Although many places of worship were closed, converted into museums, or destroyed after the Revolution, Moscow retained a number of functioning Russian Orthodox churches in addition to a few other Christian churches and Jewish and Muslim places of worship. The Russian Orthodox patriarch has a residence in Moscow ( St.Danilov cloister). A Costumer's Review: I have to say that the Maxima Zarya Hotel is some of the best spent money on our trip to Moscow. The rooms were spacious and well furnished the service was about as good as it gets. And the breakfast buffet was more than sufficient with a wide verity of foods to choose from. Also the dinner menu was excellent and the quality of the food was as good or better as any restaurant we tried in Moscow. And something I really appreciated was that the front desk staff was very attentive to my needs and well informed on the sights and events in Moscow. Over all this is a great hotel to stay at.
