With a great range of shops and restaurants, a cinema, lively bars and a couple of discos to enjoy, Alpe d’Huez has a real buzz about it as the evenings draw in. Try O’Sharkey’s Irish Bar, the live music of the Underground, Smithy’s Tavern and afterwards, the Igloo nightclub. Alpe d’Huez has many good restaurants, including Smithy’s Tex Mex and La Cordee, an Irish restaurant that caters for all with an á la carte menu, a selection of Irish specialities, fondues and live music. It also has the highest bar in the world to serve Guinness! Beginner The ski school, catering for all ages, enjoys a reputation for excellent guidance and there is a large beginner’s area covering gentle green slopes ideal for newcomers to the sport. Intermediate A wealth of blue and red runs offers endless choice for intermediates. Test your skills on the long, cruising pistes taking you down to the satellite villages of Villard, Vaujany and La Villette. The lift pass offers the option to ski in Les Deux Alpes and Serre Chevalier, offering endless possibilities. Advanced
Some real challenges face expert skiers, not least the Sarenne black run – at 16km Europe’s longest - which descends from a height of 3,330m on the glacier. If you dare, test yourself on the high altitude Pic Blanc, which includes the mogul pitted Tunnel. Snowboarding

Le Royal Ours Blanc Hotel Built in an dictinctive architectural style, the Royal Ours Blanc boasts an impressive range of leisure facilities for the perfect way to relax after a long day on the slopes. The hotel enjoys an enviably central location in the heart of Alpe d’Huez. Local taxes of approximately €1 per person per day are payable locally. Platinum rooms with jacuzzi bath are also available (extra charge). Car park and massage at extra charge. Great for groups!! Location Excellent location in the resort centre close to bars and restaurants, just 100m from the ski lifts. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to the slopes in the mornings.
