Round your holiday off by kicking back on gorgeous beaches where rainforest and ocean collide. A perfect blend of wildlife, nature and relaxation! Day 1 San Jose. We begin our journey in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Founded in 1737, San Jose is nestled in valleys filled with coffee and sugar cane. You may wish to stay an extra day or two before your tour starts to enjoy the sights – don’t miss the fascinating Gold Museum or the beautiful National Theatre. Days 2-3: Cahuita. We take a couple of days to relax in the beachside town of Cahuita. This strip of coastline is fringed with endless coconut trees, a calm sea of transparent waters has a coral reef offshore, an old Spanish shipwrecked pirate vessel and a stunning black, volcanic beach. Drink from coconuts, bath in tidal pools, and eat delicious grilled fish. Absorb the Caribbean ambience and enjoy the lush surroundings. There's also a great variety of animals and birds such as raccoons, crabs (land and water), howler monkeys, kingfishers, night herons, white-nosed coatis, frogs, toads and snakes to spot! Days 4-5: Tortuguero. Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast is quite distinct from its Pacific counterpart and Tortuguero National Park is particularly special. This is a perfect example of tropical rain forest and the park is made up of more than 18.000 hectares and protects a wealth of exotic wildlife. The area is reached by boat along a maze of jungle-banked canals where we will see tropical rainforest wildlife such as alligators, sloths, monkeys, and the occasional manatee. The park is also the nesting ground for the Atlantic Green Turtle and in season it is often possible to see the turtles laying their eggs. After lunch on Day 5 we travel back to San Jose arriving in the early evening. Day 6: San Jose. Our tour ends after breakfast on Day 6.
